Beer Can Island
As I have previously said if you can only choose one location I would make it this one. For me, this is hands down one of the best places to watch the Sarasota sunset.
Famed for its quirky name and striking silhouettes of fallen trees, it’s one of the top places to experience the best sunsets on the Gulf Coast!
Bring a blanket, and some snacks, and prepare to see hues of gold, orange, and pink painting the sky. And whatever you do don’t forget your camera because you won’t want to miss out.

Ritz Carlton Beach Club
I got one of the best videos I have ever got from here so when I tell you this is the perfect sunset viewing location I am not kidding.
I’ve seen many a sunset and the one I saw here was probably one of the best so if you can get here do.
They have several waterfront dining options here and a Tiki Bar so take your pick and enjoy the view.
The Ritz Carlton Beach Club is a rather special hotel, I adore it here.
From The Ringling Bridge
I don’t know about you but I just love a picture of a bridge with a sunset behind, there is something so dreamy about them. The breathtaking over-water view from or around the Ringling Bridge is worth a mention.
For me, the best place to see the sunset is from Bayfront Park as you have a view of the bridge and the harbor. But you can of course safely stop on the bridge in a designated bay and see downtown Sarasota illuminated which is rather special.
It’s also a great place for a stroll at dusk and the bridge has a pretty large sidewalk for just that purpose. It’s a stunning walk and even more so when the sun starts setting.
Perspective Rooftop Bar
If you would rather watch the sunset from the comfort of a chair then the Perspective Rooftop Bar is the ideal location. Here you will find signature cocktails, bottle service, a light food menu, and an incredible sunset view.
The atmosphere here is laid-back and Miami-esque. As you can imagine everyone is clambering for a table here and they are not the easiest thing to come back but there is always standing.
You can get a resort pass to spend the day on the rooftop which in the winter months would most likely afford you a great spot for sunset.
If you don’t mind standing and being surrounded by people give this place a go the view is worth it.
Marina Jack Sunset Cruise
Want to watch a sunset in Sarasota with a hint of luxury? Well, Marina Jack is just the place for you.
There are two options for you here you can do waterfront dining in the dining room or a sunset cruise in Sarasota. I know which one I would prefer.
You will need to book and both are a bit pricey however worth it for the experience. The Dinner cruise especially is perfect for those celebrating or just wanting to do something special.
And seeing the sunset from a boat on the sea is unforgettable.
Here are some other great restaurants in Sarasota you need to try.
South Lido Beach Park
Just a stone’s throw away from downtown Sarasota, Lido Beach Park is another one of my favorites for catching the sunset.
Not only is the beach here incredible but you will find this spot relatively uncrowded compared to some of the other more well-known Sarasota beach spots such as Siesta Beach and Longboat Key.
If you are after a relaxing and chill experience then this is the place to come. There is plenty of parking so nothing to worry about here, just bring a blanket something to drink, and some snacks, and you in for the evening.

Ernest “Doc” and Eloise Werlin Park
Nestled at the eastern foot of the iconic John Ringling Causeway Bridge, right next to Hart’s Landing, this park is a hidden gem.
Ernest “Doc” and Eloise Werlin Park boasts an array of features including a playground for the kids, walking trails for strolls, and most importantly it’s perfect for watching the sunset in Sarasota.
The park also contains a charming gazebo, the much-loved Tony Saprito Fishing Pier, numerous benches for soaking in the views, and is pet-friendly, welcoming all leashed pets.
The parking can get tight here so arrive early if you can and head to the Tony Saprito Fishing Pier it’s one of the best locations.
From A Kayak
If you are up for a little adventure how about a sunset from a kayak? There are plenty of places that will rent you a kayak but the best place to go is Lido Key.
You can rent a kayak for the day and take a tour most of which wraps at sunset. During daylight savings time most also offer private guided sunset tours. So if you are after something a little different this might be perfect for you.
